OREANDA-NEWS. On 03 April 2008 was announced, that XXI Century has invested over UAH 2 million in renovating Aurora Park and installing a playground as part of its corporate social responsibility strategy.

In every one of its projects, XXI Century includes work to improve the surrounding territory. Altogether, more than 6 hectares of the territory of Aurora Park, which is next to the new Kvadrat Perova shopping and entertainment center, has been reconstructed and cleaned up, according to XXI Century’s Corporate Relations Manager Dmytro Vasyliev.

The main purpose for renovating the park was to improve the family recreation infrastructure without spoiling the functioning of the territory. During the development of the concept for this renovation, the company arranged for a public opinion survey among residents in nearby buildings to find out what their wishes, concerns and comments about the look and use of Aurora Park. The results of the poll were taken into account during the reconstruction.

Six specific tasks were undertaken in the park:
covering pathways with reliable contemporary materials;
developing and installing a lighting system
planting nearly 2,000 trees and shrubs and rearranging flower beds;
installing an irrigation system;
renovating the water fountain;
giving the park a modern look using designer and architectural solutions (Alpine hill).
A playground with a playset and physical apparatuses for children was also installed in the park. The total value of the investment in the playground was nearly UAH 275,000.

The playground is about 1,000 sq m. “The quality of the equipment, its ergonomics and its design were the criteria we were guided by in selecting which children’s equipment to install in the playground area,” said XXI Century’s Corporate Relations Manager Dmytro Vasyliev. “We also paid considerable attention to the functioning of all the equipment, as children learn about the world around them in the process of playing; they develop strength and agility. We hope that this playground will bring pleasure to the children for many years to come and that local residents will keep it in good shape.”

All the materials used in the process of making the playset—both the special types of birch and fir and the plastics and paints—are environmentally clean, strong, reliable, and durable. They meet all health and safety standards.

The playset is equipped with a variety of exercisers and equipment to help kids develop physically and engage in active recreation. It includes two play zones for children of different age groups: 3–7 and 7–12. This makes it interesting for all children to spend time there and develop in a fun way. The equipping of these two zones is fundamentally different, as the design and construction of separate elements directly depends on the physiological and psychological capacities of different age groups.

The bright color range and original contemporary design appeal to both kids and their parents. “We are very pleased with the development of this playground. There weren’t any places for kids to play before. Our hope is that people will behave well and take care of the swings,” said Tetiana, a mother of two small children.
