OREANDA-NEWS. April 8, 2008. Enlarged meeting of the Russian-Slovak Business Council took place on Apr 3 2008 in the framework of the visit of Russian Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov to Bratislava. President of Atomstroyexport CJSC Sergey Shmatko is the Russian co-chair of the council, the well-known Slovak business, the ex economy minister of Slovakia Ludovit Cernak is the Slovak co-chair.

While opening the meeting, Shmatko said that the Russian-Slovak Business Council had to closely supervise joint projects so as to ensure their effective implementation and to prevent the infringement of the interests of either of the parties. He pointed out that Russian and Slovak companies successfully cooperated in the field of use of nuclear energy and Atomstroyexport was ready to enlarge its contacts with Slovak partners.

Cernak said that the meeting of the Council was a big forum of leading Russian and Slovak companies and was a very useful instrument for the sides to develop their economic and cultural cooperation and to foster their business contacts.

During the meeting Russian and Slovak businessmen exchanged information about the social-economic situation in Russia and Slovakia and discussed new joint projects in different fields.

Today, Russian and Slovak companies successfully cooperate in energy sector, chemical industry, machine building, river ship building, railway modernization.

In its resolution, the Business Council pointed out the necessity of active search for investment proposals for Russian and Slovak businessmen and expressed commitment to focus on the implementation of big economic projects for the benefit of both Russian and Slovak businesses.
