OREANDA-NEWS. On 14 April 2008 was announced, that on 24-25 April 2008, the Organising Committee of the Annual Eurasian Media Forum will open doors to its participants who are international and regional journalists, outstanding political figures of the East and the West, representatives of authoritative international orgnisations, leaders of the global media community, experts and businessmen. This event is sponsored by Air Astana.

Bella Tormysheva, Air Astana’s PR Director, says: “Air Astana airline, being a national air carrier, takes an active participation in social-political life of the state and supports such significant events as the Eurasian Media Forum. By doing so we contribute not only to facilitation of a free and open dialogue between politicians, journalists and experts on global issues of the modern development, as well as the influence of mass media upon these issues, but we also do contribute to the development of international co-operation between countries and establishment of business and cultural relations”.

Over 500 representatives of media organisations will participate in discussion at one of the year’s significant media events in Eurasia. The most discussed issues of both this decade and those of the last year will be on the agenda. In particular, the following issues will be debated:

Further development of relations between Russia and the USA in relation to expected shift in political leadership of the superpowers. New ‘cold’ war?

Threats to destabilisation in the Middle East: Pakistan, Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan

The role of the media in electoral processes. Where is the borderline between the independent view and the political publicity?

Global climate change: Potential threat

Participants of the Forum are expected to discuss the issues of instability of the world’s financial system that resulted in the fall of United States dollar and the downturn experienced on stock markets by focusing on the highlight of these issues in the mass media.

“Air Astana” is a full member of IATA and the only airline in Kazakhstan certified for aircrafts maintenance to European EASA/Part 145 standards.

“Air Astana” JSC is a joint enterprise of the Kazakhstan State Holding “Samruk” and British company "BAE Systems" with share-holdings of 51% and 49% respectively.

Currently the “Air Astana” aircraft fleet consists of western aircrafts such as Boeing B767-300, В757-200, Airbus А321, А320, and Fokker F50.
