OREANDA-NEWS. On April 10, 2008 at about 1815 h at quay No 103 a tug-boat „Barta“, belonging to Klaipeda Stevedoring Company,  when taking away the tightrope,  ran against the bow of a ship „Magdalena“ (flying Malta flag), capsized and sank. Two members of the crew sank and one person managed to save himself, reported the press-centre of Klaipeda Port.
 
On the 10th of April 2008 at about 1815 h at quay No 103 SE Klaipeda State Seaport Authority dispatcher got a notification from SE KSSA VTS which had received a notice from the pilot of a ship „Magdalena“ that a tug-boat „Barta“, belonging to Klaipeda Stevedoring Company, when taking away the tightrope, ran against the bow of a ship „Magdalena“ (flying Malta flag), capsized and sank. During the collision a hole was punched on the side of a tug-boat. 
 
Three members of the crew were on board of a tug-boat during the accident, one of them managed to save himself: SE KSSA belonging rescue cuter „Zaibas“ came to the place of accident and took him out of water. Unfortunately, the lives of the captain and a sailor were not saved. 
 
The divers of UAB „Garant“ lifted up the tug-boat „Barta“ on the 12th of April 2008. Presently responsible institutions investigate the reasons of the accident.
