OREANDA-NEWS. On 15 April 2008 was announced, that Sevmash shipbuilders took part in solemn meeting devoted to died submariners.

This day on the 7th of April 1989 nuclear submarine “Komosomolets” sank in Norwegian Sea. Loss of unique combat submarine was difficult both for Naval Fleet and for Sevmash, where “Komsomolets” was built.

Traditionally meeting devoted to submariners is arranged in Severodvinsk on the quay of White sea near sorrowful stone of nuclear submarine “Kursk”. This ship (sunk in 2000 in Barents Sea) was also built at Sevmash.

Sevmash Director General Nikolay Kalistratov, Mayor of Severodvinsk Alexander Belyaev, commander of Belomor Naval base Nikolay Andreev.

“Severodvinsk has serious and honorable task – to strengthen submarine nuclear fleet. Owing to our labour Russia will become powerful. This year we plan to perform trials of “Yuri Dolgoruki”. Sevmash Shipbuilders together with military men will do their best to fulfill this task, – noticed Nikolay Kalistratov.

Died submariners were commemorated by minute of silence and salute, red carnations were put to sorrowful stone.
