OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2008. In 2007, the Transportation Service Centre, Russian Railways’ sales and marketing unit for freight shipments, introduced technology for unified personal accounts of remitters and this year intends to go over to full electronic document processing in its work with shippers, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

Thanks to the unified personal account technology, information on the status of the personal account is aggregated in Russian Railways’ centralized accounting database.

This new format enables shippers to obtain the necessary financial and settlement documents at any convenient sales point.

Russian Railways has also introduced electronic digital signature technology (EDS), which allows shippers to file and adjust shipping applications for the transportation of goods and receive the Company’s approval for these applications when applying for the carriage of goods.

This year, Russian Railways will invest more than 5 billion roubles in the development of corporate IT services, up from 4,8 billion roubles spent in 2007.
