OREANDA-NEWS. On 23 April 2008 was announced, that the city authorities of Moscow plan to allocate about 7.3 million square metres of housing for the social housing city programs including more than 2 million square metres for people on the waiting list and more than 3.2 million square metres for moving residents of the dilapidated and dangerous houses.

The relevant program on providing with living accommodation scheduled for 2008-2010 was considered at a joint conference of the committee of municipal services and housing policy and the committee of social policy and employment relations in Municipal Duma of Moscow.

In 2007 1.8 million square metres of housing were allocated for the social housing city programs which allowed 39,000 families to improve their living conditions. Over 1.1 million square metres among them were assigned to move 20,100 families from 334 five-storey buildings, dilapidated and dangerous houses.

“In 2008 a part of housing will be purchased from the investors and developers. We plan to buy 450,000 square metres of housing,” Nikolay Fedoseev, first deputy head of the department of housing policy and housing stock of Moscow, said.

The official added that the housing would continue being built and bought in the Moscow region.
