OREANDA-NEWS. On April 23rd in a building of Council of Federation of Federal assembly of the Russian Federation the presentation of the book by Vladimir Borzyh and Alexey Razuvaev “Fire marks of the Russian Empire” took place. The edition is devoted to rare modern collectible items - metal plates, depicting the names of pre-revolution Russian insurance companies and, frequently, their trade marks and territory emblems. Many years ago these plates used to be given to people, who insured their property against fire. They were hanging the plates at their homes.

This is the first and highly professional research of the Russian fire marks. Before, the editions devoted to insurance signs, were published only abroad, and Russia was presented extremely fragmentary. In this book almost 300 types of fire marks are systematized, which, by estimation of experts, makes more than a half from the general number made in Russia.

In one of the Chapters of the book, notes of collectors are published. In particular, here is the story of “Transsib Re’s” CEO Irina Postnikova on how the corporate assembly of fire marks was formed, among which there are really unique ones. Separately about the experience of collecting of insurance rarities told “Transsib Re’s” Marketing Director Dmitry Suetin.

Except for the colorful illustrations of fire marks, tens photos of policies, actions and other ancient documents and the subjects connected with insurance are placed in the edition.  Actually, it is the brief encyclopedia of history of insurance business in Russia. OJSC “Transsiberian Reinsurance Corporation” became the unique sponsor of the edition.

It is remarkable, that the book “Fire marks of the Russian Empire” is recommended for printing by Department of preservation of cultural values of Federal Service of supervision in sphere of mass communications, connections and protection of a cultural heritage. The edition will be useful for museum workers, antique dealers and collectors, and also for everyone who is interested in Russian history.

Simultaneously with presentation of the book the same exhibition was opened. On it numerous photos- both modern, and pre-revolutionary - with images of buildings on which fire marks were fixed are presented. The most interesting originals of fire marks are also exhibited. The exhibition in Council of Federation will work during the week. Then its tour on cities of Russia is planned.

The picture story from presentation of the book and opening of an exhibition within the next few days will be placed on “Transsib Re’s” site in section “About us/Photo album". For the additional information on the book and the exhibition please address to the marketing department of “Transsib Re”.
