OREANDA-NEWS. On 30 April 2008 was announced, that Sheremetyevo 3 air terminal is to take on passengers in spring 2009.

The air terminal is designed for 12 million passenger traffic per year, it will work at full blast in a year after the launch, Kirill Budaev, CEO of JSC Terminal (management company of Sheremetyevo 3), said.

Mr Budaev noted that the costs for the project had been measured jointly with the International Air Transport Association (IATA). “There hasn’t ever been such a cheap terminal. We have saved about \\$500 million for our shareholders,” the CEO added.

The official reminded that the air terminal was under construction at the expense of the line of credits allotted by VTB and Vnesheconombank, the credits should be repaid in 12 years.

The shareholders of JSC Terminal are Aeroflot, VTB and Vnesheconombank. Sheremetyevo international airport, 100 per cent of which are owned by the government, is the biggest Russian airport in providing the international scheduled air service. Currently Sheremetyevo is undergoing the reconstruction that includes the renovation of airport infrastructure and the update of terminals, the result of which may be the increase of passenger traffic up to 25 million people per year.
