OREANDA-NEWS. May 14, 2008. “KAMAZ-Metallurgy” Plc. will be among the suppliers of the joint-venture "CUMMINS- EAIA". Driving parts of the engine will be manufactured at Forge and Foundry Plants. Among them crankshaft, 4- and 6-cylinder blocks, cylinder heads for light-duty trucks.

Forge Plant already has forged samples of new crankshaft, at Foundry Plant is going production preparation. Already defined a production technique for cylinder block cores, the matter concerns “cold” method of cores manufacture which increases core tool life (more than million times of usage) and guarantees accuracy of cores packet assembly that are manufactured on a modern equipment with wide possibilities.

Exactly on this equipment will be manufactured cores for project CUMMINS. Equipment will be supplied in September by company "LAEMPE" (Germany) which is the larges core equipment manufacturer. Core tooling will be also of German manufacture by company "MAISSNER". In accordance with the contract terms tooling will be tested and adjusted in Germany on the manufactured equipment for foundry plant. In the same place by the end of summer will be casted first samples of blocks.

In order to receive new cylinder blocks and cylinder heads of good quality there will be made changes at melting and finishing departments of Iron Foundry: installation of new induction furnace instead of arc melting furnace No.1. Also will be created a new flow of cylinder blocks finishing – on modern equipment.

First blocks of KAMAZ will come out from molding line SPО-1 of Iron Casting Production by the end of this year.
