OREANDA-NEWS. The Council of the International Nuclear Innovative Consortium held its first meeting at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI) on May 27 2008. The Consortium comprises Rosatom, Kyrgyz, Kazakh, Tajik and Byelorussian universities training specialists in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy. The key task of the Consortium is to consolidate the efforts of its members in training personnel for the nuclear sector of EurAsEC member-states.

38 people took part in the meeting among them the director of the Personnel Management Department of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation S.Kruppo, the secretary of the Council for Cooperation in the Field of Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy of the Integration Committee of EurAsEC G.Islamova, the president of the Consortium, the rector of MEPhI M.Strikhanov as well as representatives of 19 universities of EurAsEC states.

The director of the Personnel Management Department of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation S.Kruppo, the rector of MEPhI M.Strikhanov, the rector of Tomsk Polytechnical University Y.Pokhlkov, the director of the International Nuclear Education Center V.Murogov made reports on the most urgent problems in the field of nuclear personnel training.

The final roundtable summed up the results of the meeting: the key topics were integration of nuclear education systems and educational-methodological materials.
