OREANDA-NEWS. June 2, 2008. Igor Kostin, CEO of Power Machines, and Vladimir Travin, Director of JSC Atomenergoprom, signed a contract of supplies for supplies of main power equipment for Novovoronezhskaya NPP-2 (NVNPP) and Leningradskaya NPP-2 (LNPP). The total price of the contracts makes 40 billion Rubles.

Each nuclear power plant will be equipped with two power units of ВВЭР type of 1200 MW each.

Under the terms of the contracts Power Machines shall design, manufacture and supply four sets of stem turbines, condensers and auxiliary equipment for turbine unit as well as four sets of turbogenerators with auxiliary systems equipment, excitation system and exciter. As a supplier of complete turbine unit equipment Power Machines shall supply heat-exchange equipment and pumping equipment, pipelines and fittings. Power Machines shall provide erection supervision and start-up supervision at the sites.

High-speed steam turbines and turbogenerators of 1200 MW capacity for nuclear power plants are Power Machines’ brand new developments that have been produced for nuclear power units of new generation of advanced reliability and safety and developed under the Russian project NPP-2006.

At design and production of high-speed steam turbines K-1200-6,8/50 new design solutions and technologies will be used. These solutions and technologies were used at design and manufacture of turbines for Kudankulam NPP in India and Tyanvan NPP in China.

Turbogenerators T3B-1200-2 will be designed and manufactured by Power Machines for NVNPP-2 and LNPP-2 have been developed from a series of turbogenerators with complete water cooling system. These turbogenerators are unique, high efficient and fire and explosion proof.

The first power unit of Novovoronezhskaya NPP-2 will be put into operation in 2012, the second one in 2013. The first power unit of Leningradskaya NPP-2 will be put into operation in 2013, the second one in 2014.

New power units for NVNPP-2 and LNPP-2 with modernized reactor system of ВВЭР type are being constructed within the framework of Federal Target Program “Development of nuclear power complex in Russia from 2007 to 2010 and long term prospective up to 2015”. These are the first nuclear power plants to be constructed in Russia green field for the last 15 years.
