OREANDA-NEWS. June 2, 2008. On first Sunday of June Turkmenistan celebrates Textile Worker Day. To celebrate the professional holiday of Turkmen textile workers established in 2006 Ashgabat hosted the International Textile Exhibition. The opening ceremony was held at the Exhibition Centre.

The exposition brought together textile specialists from the CIS and the abroad. Over 60 foreign companies and firms – the leading producers and suppliers of textile equipment and chemical products presented the innovations and latest developments at the exposition. These included Turkmenistan’s long-term dependable partners as well as those interested in establishing business contacts on the very promising Turkmen market – Jum Shui (China), Bezema, Rieter, Huntsman (Switzerland), Textima (Germany), Sigma Center (TurkeY0, Aliance Russian Textile, NPF ORT (Russia) and the others.

The cabinet ministers of Turkmenistan, the deputies of the Turkmen Parliament, the high-ranking officials of the national ministries and departments, the members of the public organisations, the cultural workers and artists, the heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan, the foreign businessmen and numerous guests took part in the opening ceremony.

The address of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was presented at the ceremony. In his address the Turkmen leader focused on the necessity to bring textile industry – one of the leading sectors of Turkmen economy up to a higher level and wished fruitful work to the participants and organizers of the remarkable event noting that it vividly demonstrated the achievements of national textile industry to the Turkmen people and the international community as well.

The ceremony of awarding the letters of honours and valuable gifts on behalf of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the best textile workers, whose selfless, conscientious labour enhanced the power of Turkmen textile industry, was held.

The national enterprises presented the exposition of textile goods, which are of high demand on the national and foreign consumer markets, demonstrating the impressive achievements of the youngest and most dynamically developed sector of national economy. These included the goods manufactured by the textile giants – Turkmenbashi jins kompleksi, Turkmenbashi tekstil kompleksi, the Gypajk, Geokdepe and the Bayramali textile complexes and the others

The larges-scale textile enterprises located in immediate proximity to the raw materials sources and supplied with supermodern equipment uses environmentally friendly raw materials and advanced technologies. The high quality of domestically produced textile goods meeting the international standards is proved by the prestigious international certificates including ISO 9001 Quality management systems, ISO 14001 Environment Management Systems and Standards, WRAP Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production, OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Information.

The demand for the goods labeled Made in Turkmenistan that compete with the products manufactured by the world-renowned companies keeps increasing and proves Turkmenistan’s status of a large textile producer. The high-quality products – cotton yarn, cotton, jeans and terry cloth, knitted fabric, ready-made garments and knitted goods, raw silk, wadding, washed wool, cattle skin, etc. manufactured at the Turkmen textile enterprises are exported to dozens of the countries worldwide including the states in the CIS, Europe and America.

The foreign companies and firms presented a broad exposition of textile equipment and chemical products, ready-made garments, knitted, jeans and leather goods, hand-made textile products, etc.

The bright show of the latest fashion collections designed by the Ashgabat Fashion House of the Ministry of Textile Industry of Turkmenistan followed the official part. The exclusive collections combining the elements of the national costume and silver wear designed by the Ashgabat Fashion House and the Gulzaman Salon adorned the show.

A fashion show presented by the Fashion House of Vyacheslav Zaitzev was a surprise for the visitors. The famous fashion designer presented several collections he had presented in Paris, Berlin and other European capitals. On that day a Pakistani fashion designer Akhmed Nabeli and a Ukrainian fashion designer Oleksander Gapchug presented the collections the combined the original traditions of national costume and modern fashion tendencies.
