OREANDA-NEWS. On 17 June 2008 was announced, that OJSC PAVA, the largest grain processor of Siberia and the Far East works systematically for achieving the goal which was stated in 2007 – to construct an advanced wheat-based BioRefinery plant. The site chosen for the enterprise is in the Rebrikha district of the Altay Territory. After a careful study of the market conjuncture and the dynamics of present-day society, PAVA approved the final plan of the plant’s production capacities. According to this plan the main outputs will be vital wheat gluten, starch, syrups, ethanol, farm animal feed, carbon dioxide and wheat germ oil.

What makes the confirmed plan different from the initial idea is the increased share of food products and animal feed output. This decision was prompted by the tendencies on the world market. “Today we see how relevant the issue of food deficit is. That is why we decided to reconsider the concept of the production and substantially increase the outputs of starch, feed, etc. According to the newly approved plan of the plant’s production capacities, biochemical products will be made only from those parts of grain which are completely unsuitable for other purposes”, commented Andrey Igoshin, OJSC PAVA Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Thus, 80% of wheat grain components will be used for production of food and 20% for biochemical products.

Feeds rich in protein, which serve as a basis for farm animals’ nutrition will be the key output of the new production. They will become an alternative to grain and other expensive sources of protein. The production of mixed feed is expected to reach 333 tonnes a year. The implementation of the wheat-based BioRefinery project will create an opportunity for building a powerful cluster on its basis which may include various enterprises.
