OREANDA-NEWS. June 30, 2008.  A solemn reception on the occasion of 20 years of JSC Sovcomflot took place in Moscow at the Government Reception House on 26 June 2008.

The event was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Ivanov, the Deputy Minister of Transport Aleksandr Misharin, the Deputy Governor of St. Petersburg Yuriy Molchanov, by the representatives of major international and national oil and gas companies, banks and shipping companies as well as the top managers of Sovcomflot.

Addressing to the distinguished guests Mr. Sergey Ivanov underlined that the company in a very short period of time managed to set up one of the most hi-tech fleets in the world, by developing in the recent three years new perspective trends of shipping, including transportation of liquefied natural and oil gas, shuttle energy trade from the offshore fields of the Far-Eastern and the Arctic Seas, and the transportation of chemical cargoes.

On behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation, Sergey Ivanov thanked the company’s team for the results and wished Sovcomflot new perspective projects. The Deputy Prime Minister noted Sovcomflot’s important role in developing the resources of Russia’s continental shelf. “The company is called upon to become a technological leader in the transportation support of the offshore oil and gas development in the Arctic”, he said.

In the official part of the reception party Sergey Ivanov granted the Diplomas of the Government of the Russian Federation to the Acting Vice-President of Sovcomflot Vladimir Mednikov and the Managing Director of Unicom Sergey Popravko. He also awarded the Sovcomflot Vice-President Sergey Burima and Andrey Aprelenko, the General Director of Rosnefteflot (JV of Sovcomflot and Rosneft), with the Medals of the Maritime Board at the Government of the Russian Federation.
