OREANDA-NEWS. On 01 July 2008 was announced, that a new sculptural composition dedicated to the history of the builders and building sector of Moscow is to reflect all architectural styles which have appeared in the Russian capital from the time of its foundation up till now as well as the images of people of building occupations.

“A sculptural composition will be set up in the area of Moscow international business centre Moskva-City when all the fundamental buildings have been built. It will be a large sculptural composition combined the fragments reflecting various architectural styles of the capital – from the wooden Moscow and the White-stone city till the epoch of constructivism and modern urban construction as well as the prototypes of the famous architects, such as: Fyodor Kon, Vasiliy Bazhenov, and the images of average builders,” the sculptor Salavat Shcherbakov, author of the project, said.

Mr Shcherbakov added that the reflected images would include land surveyors, welders, brick-masons and architects. In total, it is planned to put up about 15-20 various figures of builders.

A total area of the sculptural composition will be 100m x 50m. Its architectural concept will be embodied in granite, bronze, chromic metal and reinforced concrete.

According to Moskomarkhitektura, the sculpture is scheduled to be set up approximately in 2009. The commission for monumental art of Moscow has approved its installation.
