OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2008. The Bank of Moscow and company SAS Russia/CIS have successfully wrapped up their debut joint project involving over 150 Bank’s specialists using the SAS Credit Scoring for Banking system to analyze retail credit exposures. This system is based on the SAS Banking Intelligence Architecture platform. The application of the system will streamline the decision making process as to lending and enable the Bank, through more accurate risk assessment, to increase the number of loans to individuals without fear of growing debt in arrears.

The introduction of the SAS Credit Scoring for Banking solution offers the Bank of Moscow, which is ranked among Russia’s top-5 banks, an opportunity to use credit scoring technologies for assessing with the greatest thoroughness the insolvency risk associated with every borrower. Individual treatment of the borrower, personalized product features that take into account his/her demographic aspects and behavioral patterns will enable the Bank to broaden its clientele by adding those who missed for a variety of reasons the chance of getting a loan.

"The Bank of Moscow is Russia’s one of the major players on the retail banking market, and it offers to its customers and clients a wide array of modern lending products. Among our clients today are over 8 mln private individuals. The Bank’s portfolio of credits for individuals exceeds Rub 90 billion. Every month Bank of Moscow examines around 100,000 applications for loans. Therefore more effective risk management is not merely meeting the regulator’s requirements, but an important factor for the Bank’s competitiveness," comments Bank’s Vice-president Yuri Maksutov. "It is for this reason that we regard the launching of a scoring system developed by SAS, the world leader in the field, as a success giving the Bank new capacities to develop its retail business," he added.

The project of launching the SAS Credit Scoring for Banking kicked off at the Bank of Moscow in the middle of 2007. SAS Russia/CIS became not only the supplier of software, but also the prime contractor in executing the project. To that end, a project team was set up involving four specialists from the Russian unit of consulting and systems integration company Business & Decision, which is SAS Russia/CIS’s partner with a "Golden" status.
