OREANDA-NEWS. On 17 July 2008 was announced, that Slobodka market located at 17-19 Korovinskoe Highway is to be converted into a modern retail centre with an underground car park, the official site of the prefecture of the northern administrative district of Moscow said.

According to a reconstruction project, a modern retail centre is to be erected on the place of the temporary outlets. The food retailing will be preserved.

The complex is to be a two or three-storey building with an underground car park with the total area of over 21,000 sq m. The exact time-frame of construction hasn’t been specified yet.

The areas on the ground floor of the retail centre are to be used for fruit, vegetable and other food retailing. Public service enterprises, offices, a cafe and a cinema are to be located on the second and third floors. The total number of parking spaces will be raised from the current 250 to 500 in the aboveground and underground car parks to be erected. The residents of the district supported the project of rebuilding the market.
