OREANDA-NEWS. On July 25, 2008 in Klaipeda Clock museum yard (Liepu str.12) during the Sea Captains` party the most prominent seafarers and transport people were awarded with the honorary insignia of maritime transport of the Republic of Lithuania, reported the press-centre of Klaipeda port.  
 
The Sea Captains` party as a part of the Sea Festival – is an exceptional event of honour for seafarers and one of the most significant traditions of the festival. During the party the most prominent seafarers and transport people were awarded with the honorary insignia of maritime transport of the Republic of Lithuania

The award founded by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania is awarded to the most eminent representatives of maritime community for many-year and irreproachable work, high culture of navigation, propagation of national shipping traditions and inducement of the prestige of the Republic of Lithuania in international shipping.

The tradition to give awards of the honorary insignia of maritime transport of the Republic of Lithuania exists since 2003. Up till now 77 maritime transport people are honoured with this award.
