OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2008. Within the Baku visit of Peter Thomson, WBG director for stable development in Caucasus and Central Asia, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan has outlined quite a wide programme of partnership with the Bank.

A government source said that the Ministry of Emergency Situations conducted constructive talks with Mr. Thomson.

“As a result, we outlined quite a wide programme of co-operation. Besides assistance to inspection of multistory buildings in the country and to the drafting the Construction Code of Azerbaijan, the WB expressed readiness to continue assistance in management of emergency situations. The Bank agreed to participate in creation of network of emergency centres taking into account experience of a similar centre in Istanbul,” the source said.

The Ministry draws actively international assistance, including from its Russian counterparts.
