OREANDA-NEWS. July 30, 2008. Kaluga Turbine Works, which is the part of Power Machines, and OJSC Soyuz Power Development Corporation (EPC contractor) signed a contract for supplies of power equipment for Novolipetsk Steel.

For the first time in its history KTZ shall manufacture turbines of more than 40 MW. The contract stipulates design, manufacture and supplies of three steam turbines ПТ-40/50 of 50 MW for a TPP under construction. Power Machines shall also provide supervision and commissioning works. The deadline of supplies – the 2nd quarter of 2010. The price of the contract is more than 500 million Rubles.

From 2006 to 2007 KTZ supplied two steam turbines of 25 MW each for Novolipetsk Steel.

The new turbines will both produce energy and will be used in the process of utilization of blast furnace gas, the main fuel for the plant, to shut out the release of the gas into the atmosphere.

The plant of 150 MW is planned to be commissioned in 2011.

OJSC Novolipetsk Steel is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of electrotechnical steel. The enterprise ranks ahead of the Russian manufacturers of cold-rolled mill products and galvanized steel products and polymer-coated steel. Among the products of Novolipetsk Steel are conversion pig iron, plate slabs, hot-rolled steel and various types of products with great lot of added value such as cold-rolled mill products, electrotechnical steel and other types of flats.
