OREANDA-NEWS. On 05 August 2008 was announced, that President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the credential letters of FRG Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan Mr. Rainer Morel.

Greeting the guest the Turkmen leader congratulated him on appointing to the important diplomatic post and wished success in strengthening the relations of friendship and co-operation between Turkmenistan and the Federal Republic of Germany. Highly appreciating the intergovernmental dialogue established over these years Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan and Germany had the profound potential of multi-aspect partnership that was to serve the benefit of the two friendly peoples. The Turkmen leader said that mutually advantageous co-operation with different countries worldwide including Europe was a priority of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy strategy based on the principles of positive neutrality and adhering to good neighbourliness, mutual respect and openness. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan attached the paramount importance to enhancement of the relations with the FRG – one of the largest member states of the European Union both in the bilateral format and in the framework of the dynamically developed dialogue with EU.

Thanking the Turkmen leader for the constructive approach to co-operation with Germany Mr. Rainel Morel said that his country aimed to establish full-scale co-operation with Turkmenistan – its long-term and very promising partner.

The sides exchanged views on the current state and opportunities of enhancing constructive collaboration distinguished for the long-term positive experience and impressive results of the joint activity in various fields. In this regard emphasis was put on the intergovernmental commission for economic co-operation as an effective mechanism of promoting the mutual interests. Specifying the trade and economic sphere and fuel and energy sector as the key fields of partnership the sides stated with satisfaction the success of humanitarian co-operation, in particular healthcare co-operation. The vast opportunities for expanding the fruitful contacts were provided in the educational sphere, first of all training of highly qualified scientific personnel. Co-operation in such fields as communication and telecommunication, electrical power engineering, industry, urban planning and high technologies – the use of renewable energy sources in particular was viewed as very promising.

Focusing on the German large and medium businesses’ intense interest in the very promising Turkmen market the diplomat said that he intended to actively facilitate the development of the mutually advantageous business contacts as well through providing the German people with the information on Turkmenistan’s economic potential and resources and the favourable conditions created for foreign investors in the country. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited the German companies to collaborate in the international projects initiated by Turkmenistan including the North-South Project and the Avaza National Project.

In conclusion of the meeting the plenipotentiary representative expressed sincere gratitude to the Turkmen leader for the frank thorough conversation and assured the President that he would spare no effort to enhance and further the constructive relations between Turkmenistan and the Federal Republic of Germany for the benefit of both countries and peoples.
