OREANDA-NEWS. On 06 August 2008 was announced, that Uralmash Machine building corporation has successfully completed one of the most important stages - development of detailed design for reconstruction of the sintering plant Lurgi 278"B" for Severniy GOK, Krivoy Rog, Ukraine. The agreement was signed in December, 2007.

At the moment the most complicated units of mechanical equipment have been put into production. The first batch of sintering carriages has been manufactured and sent to SGOK. According to the agreement Uralmash has also sent the detailed design for steel structures to be produced at Ukranian plants.

The complete scope of equipment required for sintering plant reconstruction will be supplied to the customer in January, 2009, and will be put into operation in August, 2009.

Development of detailed design was preceded by engineering design of equipment and negotiating of technical solutions with the customer.

While working on this project of sintering plant reconstruction (sintering area 278,25 m2) both MC Uralmash and SGOK engineers had a goal not only to copy the failed units designed by Lurgi (Germany) 30 years ago, but to implement the state of art design, thus facilitating higher reliability and durability of the plant, reduction of fuel and power consumption, easier maintenance and repairs, environmental protection.

MC Uralmash engineers had to develop the whole range of new units. Thus they have designed a new type of sintering plant charging device, and a new main drive gear. To improve the working properties of carriages they are provided with loading rollers equipped with frictionless bearings instead of sliding ones. In order to reduce time on repairs and steel rationing, working cogs surface of driving and unloading star wheels are executed as demountable overlays. A new unloading device will be installed which will move horizontally on roller bearings. Their rolling surface will be geometrically in the same of the axis of star wheels. It will provide an equal distribution of the working load on the roller bearings, and increase their reliability.
