OREANDA-NEWS. On 06 August 2008 was announced, that the Rostekhnadzor’s community board in association with the academic community and the ecological organizations has completed the verification of compliance of the environmental legislation at ESPO-2 pipeline system designing. Information provided to RIA “Vostok-Media” correspondent in the administration press-service.

It was mentioned during a visiting session in Vladivostok, where the second phase of the pipeline will be installed, that the project design is being performed with overall compliance of the environmental legislation. Quoting Vladimir Grachev, the chairman of the Community board for the Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Atomic Supervision: “All standards and regulation related to the environmental protection and ecological safety are met during the construction of the Eastern Siberia – Pacific Ocean pipeline system. All late ecological effects of the pipeline operation have been taken into consideration during the design stage. Moreover the ecologically important information on the project is open”.

Vladimir Grachev called universal a scope of public opinion consideration during the ESPO project implementation: “None of the projects had been implemented with such major, universal public opinion consideration. The public opinion is being considered in accordance with the Russian legislation by means of public hearings, public environmental impact audits, appeal study, accounting of remarks and comments on project design and implementation”.

About 400 questions, comments and remarks of the local authorities, public organizations and citizens have been reviewed during the ESPO-2 designing stage. The ecological impact, accident risk and construction influence on the social-economic state of the regions, were the key points around construction and design of the second phase of the ESPO-2 oil pipeline (Skovorodino – Kozmino sector).
