OREANDA-NEWS. August 11, 2008. At the end of July 2008, official reserve assets made up LTL 15.24 billion (EUR 4.41 billion), reported the press-centre of Bank of Lithuania.

In July, they decreased by LTL 1.04 billion, i.e. by 6.4 percent. Official reserve assets excluding funds received from repo transactions went down by LTL 421.5 million or 2.7 percent in July 2008.

The reason behind the decrease of international reserves was the contraction of the Bank of Lithuania external liabilities and the deposits of other monetary financial institutions by LTL 650.5 million and LTL 289.7 million respectively as well as decrease in the deposits of the central government with the Bank of Lithuania by LTL 273.4 million.

The decline of official reserve assets was offset in part by a growth of other factors and the amount of currency in circulation by LTL 119.9 million and LTL 51.8 million respectively.

Data on official reserve assets of August 2008 will be published on 5 September 2008.
