OREANDA-NEWS. On 12 August 2008 was announced, that “Polyot”, a Voronezh-based airline, and Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport celebrate the fifth anniversary of their successful cooperation.

On August 6, 2003, in addition to cargo flights, the airline began operating regular passenger flights between Moscow and Voronezh, having selected Domodedovo airport as its partner. In January 2004, the airline launched regular passenger flights to Ulyanovsk. Over the past five years, the airline has operated flights from Domodedovo to Lipetsk, Belgorod, Murmansk, Kaliningrad, Elista, as well as resort cities of Sochi, Anapa, and Poprad. During this period the air carrier serviced about 485.4 thousand passengers.

SAAB-2000, a medium-range passenger aircraft, is the core of the airline’s passenger fleet. The air carrier started operating this aircraft in 2006 to improve the level of comfort and increase its passenger traffic.

At present, “Polyot” operates 35 flights a week from Domodedovo to Voronezh and 10 flights a week from Domodedovo to Ulyanovsk. The number of passengers serviced on these routes grows steadily. For example, in January – July 2008 the airline serviced over 68 thousand passengers on the Moscow – Voronezh route, which is a 28% increase as compared to the first seven months of 2007. The passenger traffic serviced on the Moscow – Ulyanovsk route has grown by 67% during the same period.

The airline is soon to celebrate another important anniversary – 20 years in operation. During this period the company has demonstrated a number of significant achievements. “Polyot” is one of the top five Russian companies in terms of the amount of cargo transported on domestic and international routes. The company operates more than 90% of all flights departing from the “Voronezh” airport and is the leader of the Central Federal District in terms of regional passenger services. The company has representative offices in the USA, Cyprus, and Germany.
