OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 August 2008 was announced, that the second line of light rail metro is to be driven in Moscow by 2015.

“The second line of light rail metro is to go from Buninskaya Avenue (the first line of light rail metro) to Novokuriyanovo (southern Moscow). The line is scheduled to be placed in operation by 2015,” Leonid Lipsits, head of Department of Transport and Communication of Moscow, said at a session of City Hall on August 19.

The official added that the first line of light rail metro called Butovskaya would be prolonged from Starokachalovskaya Street to Bitsevsky Park.

However, Mr Lipsits didn’t specified the time-frame within which the Butovskaya line would be connected to Bitsevsky Park. Now it goes from Dmitriya Donskogo Boulevard to Buninskaya Avenue station.
