OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2008. During the first six months of 2008, 126.91 million lits were lost, which is 15.4% more as compared to the previous year (110.04 million lits).

In the same period, revenues of gambling operators grew by 24.7% (up to 647.36 million lits), and prize payouts – by 27.3% (up to 520.45 million lits), according to the National Gambling Control Committee.

The Lithuanians lost 9.27 million lits to bookmakers – 76.9% more than last year.
As for the last year, 245.9 million lits were lost in Lithuanian gambling facilities – 31.5% more than in the year before (186.9 million lits).

The first gambling facility in Lithuania was opened in February 2002. This year, there are 14 gambling operators in the country.
