OREANDA-NEWS. August 21, 2008. As of late June 2008, the balance of credits in the economy of Moldova amounted to 23 billion 932,9 million leis, increasing by 14.6% since the beginning of the year.

In comparison with June 2007, it grew by 1.5 times. As it was informed in NBM, the growth of crediting is due to optimization of credit conditions by the commercial banks; diversification of loans, increased necessity in investments; and growth of consumer loans.

Credits were issued mainly in the national currency- 60.1%; equal to the level of the same period of the last year. In June, average interest rate on loans in leis made 21.11%, exceeding the rates of June 2007 by 2.1 percentage points.

The average interest rate on loans in foreign currency amounted to 11.72%, an increase by 0.71 percentage points as compared with June 2007 and 1,06 points up since the beginning of the year.
