OREANDA-NEWS. On 25 August 2008 was announced, that in the beginning of August, the newly set plant for production of Polycarbonates entered its commissioning phase. On August 6, the production personnel initiated production of Ethylene Carbonate (EC) - the first product in a long process flow scheme.

Having produced EC, the workers of the PC Plant switched over to the 2nd stage - production of Dimethylcarbonate (DMC). The start-up of that process unit was commenced on Saturday, August 9, 2008. Its putting into operation was smooth and successful, without any complications. This resulted in production of a long awaited DMC, along with a high-quality Monoethylene-glycol (MEG) - a by-product enjoying very high demand with Users. As a matter of fact, MEG has become the first finished product of the newly built Polycarbonate Plant.

On August 11, at 11:00 a.m. they started to pump the produced MEG into finished product tanks located in shop No.754-762 of the Organic Products Plant, from where it will be shipped afterwards to Users.

The initial two "heights" have been successfully climbed by the PC Plant's workers owing to well coordinated activities of the plant's personnel and representatives of Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corporation (Japan), the process Licensor. Very shortly, the parties will have to join their efforts in order to start production of Diphenylcarbonate (DPC) - the next product in the sequential chain of the process, and, finally, of the Polycarbonate itself, which, if the start-up of the PC Plant proves successful, will be a glorious present for all plant's personnel and all citizens of Kazan made on the eve of the Day of the City and the Day of the Republic of Tatarstan.
