OREANDA-NEWS. September 2, 2008. M2M Telematica company presented its innovative approach to passenger traffic in the Tambov City Administration.

GPS/GLONASS Automatic Passenger Traffic Control System Introduction` working meeting was held in the Tambov City Administration. The meeting was chaired by Mikhail Makarov, Deputy Head of the City Administration. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the local transport directorates and entities, the leaders responsible for logistics and transportation arrangement, as well as M2M Telematica and Air Telecom public company representatives.

M2M Telematica company presented its design concept `Regional Transportation Navigation Data System (RTNDS)`. This is an intellectual transport system intended for municipal state customers. RTNDS primary objectives cover monitoring and dispatching for various types of transport vehicles geographically limited by a region (subjects of the Federation), a district, a town, or a municipal territory. Multi-functionality of the RTNDS hard- and- software platform enables the system to be integrated on different levels with the other automatic systems commissioned earlier.

Representatives of the company drew the attention of the meeting participants to the М2М-CityBus automatic transportation control system. M2M-CityBus system was developed for governmental and commercial entities and intended for long-term transportation planning and real-time immediate traffic control. Special emphasis was made on the terminal hardware applied in this system, which uses GLONASS navigation data.

According to Andrey Platonov, chief of the regional development department in M2M Telematica, participants of the meeting recognize the importance of automatic control system utilization in the city transport. `There are similar systems working in the other Russian cities. Representatives of the municipal transportation service organizations state that introduction of such system can settle a set of distinguished problems, such as road and autobahn traffic monitoring and immediate response to emergency situations on the road`,- states Andrey Platonov.

In addition, the system would improve passenger service quality. This is achieved by automatic positioning, as well as maintaining the schedule and intervals in the traffic. `Thus, the trip time becomes less, passenger transport loading and traffic intervals decrease in rush-hours`,- explains Alexander Boreiko, M2M Telematica CEO.-`Due to on-line monitoring, passenger traffic will be more safe, and effective monitoring of the transport vehicle speed is maintained. It is not a secret that `vitality of arteries` in a modern city provides for the life quality of its citizens, and determines attractiveness and prestige for the external investments. In my opinion, traffic long-term planning and real-time monitoring solutions are essential in this situation. `Regional Transportation Navigation Data System` design concept offers a mechanism to solve all these problems`.
