OREANDA-NEWS. September 5, 2008. Thanks to VivaCell-MTS support a 750 meters long protective fence is built on both banks of river Hrazdan, for the part of the river running across the village. Another part of the fence – 300 meters, will be built by end of the year.

River Hrazdan flows across the village of Geghamavan – through its populated territory. The protective fence separating the river banks from the village built previously dates back to the first half of the previous century, and was destroyed. Unfortunately, during the last three decades the fence was unable to prevent 67 casualties resulting in death of people, 10 of which were cars falling into the river. Moreover, lots of cattle have fallen into the river causing considerable material losses to the residents of the village.

The safety of our citizens is one of the main worries of VivaCell- MTS, thus and in order to provide security and safety to the village residents and the surroundings, the Company allocated AMD 25 million for the construction of protective structures - outer abutment wall, nets, set squares and casings in the place where the river Hrazdan adjoins to the village Geghamavan.

Today the General Manager of VivaCell-MTS Ralph Yirikian and marzpet of Gegharkunik region Never Pogossian visited Geghamavan to accept the construction works of the fence.
