OREANDA-NEWS. September 5, 2008. The number of bank cards issued by the Bank of Moscow has topped the 10 million mark. Since the beginning of the year, there has been a 17.6% increase in the number of cards issued, the positive dynamics being demonstrated by both debit and credit cards.

"This is largely associated with the development of payroll projects and special offers by the Bank", explains the Managing Director of the Retail Business Unit of the Bank of Moscow, Alla Tsytovich. "From the beginning of April to the end of June 2008, for instance, the Bank was conducting a successful campaign called „Discovery Time“, under which customers could take out loans at an interest rate of only 11% per annum in foreign currency or 17% in roubles".

The Bank of Moscow is one of the biggest players in the bank card segment. For example, as of the beginning of 2008, the Bank’s share of the market amounted to about 8.2%. According to the Central Bank data, the total number of issued cards as of 1 January this year was 103.5 million, more than 8.6 million of these having been, at that time, issued by the Bank of Moscow.
