OREANDA-NEWS. September 5, 2008. Mining Chemical Combine will build a granulated MOX fuel plant, Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko said during his visit to Zheleznogorsk.

“There are excellent prospects for building such a plant. Presently, we are considering the possibility of stationing the enterprise at the radio-chemical plant. The plant will use the plutonium dioxide stored at Mining Chemical Combine. According to our plans, the plant will be launched in 2012,” Kiriyenko said.

Lots of scientists in different countries are working on MOX fuel production. This type of fuel can be used at both thermal and fast-breeder reactors.
