OREANDA-NEWS  On 10 September was announced, that stops, bus lanes and pedestrian pavements will be built in the underground space of Moscow in years to come.

According to the City program aimed at preparing for the complex urban development of the Moscow underground space scheduled for 2009-2011, “these objects are to be erected within the complex development of residential neighborhoods with the use of an underground space for the effective development of the Moscow areas.”

In particular, the program stipulates that underground car parks for permanent users and guest parking as well as an underground transportation network comprising a traffic area, stops and pedestrian pavements will be allocated in the areas set for complex development which are under construction or undergoing reconstruction.

Besides, it is planned to construct driveways, tipping stages and warehouses of stores, service enterprises and public catering establishments as well as civil engineering companies, health centres, stacks, libraries and civil defense objects under the residential neighborhoods in Moscow.

“Such a decision will enable to divide residential and engineering areas of a neighborhood almost completely. A part above ground level will be used for housing development, building kindergartens, schools, hospitals and laying out landscape areas and parklands. At the same time, due to moving all transportation and engineering infrastructures into underground, the maximum security will be provided for the locals, a number of traffic accidents will fall, environmental conditions will be improved,” the document noted.
