OREANDA-NEWS. September 11, 2008. Top managers from Korea Midland Power and Core Cross, South Korea, and UMMC-Holding, Russia, were in SibCOTES on a working visit. They have discussed the construction of a 500 MW power plant in Novokuznetsky Region, Kemerovo Oblast.

Currently, a construction site is being selected. After the site is selected, the engineers from SibCOTES will prepare a pre-feasibility study for the project and a “Request for construction intent” for the Kemerovo Oblast Administration.

The power plant is planned to be constructed in Novokuznetsky Region, since it is very close to electricity consumption centre, main coal mines, water resources, and large settlements. TPP will have the equipment made in Korea. Oxidized low-grade coals (gas coal and long-flame coal) from the Kuznetsk Basin are considered as possible fuel for pulverized-coal combustion. Preliminary estimates of the construction investments amount to RUB18 billion.

Korea Midland Power and Core Cross have already signed the Agreement with UMMC Holding and Kemerovo Oblast Administration for the construction of the power plant in the region.
