OREANDA-NEWS. September 15, 2008. The Fishing Industry of Turkmenistan-2008 International Exhibition was opened at the Exhibition Centre in the Turkmen capital. In accordance with the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan the State Committee for Fish Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan are the organizers of the three-day forum – the first one in the history of the industry.

The aim of the forum is to enhance the international aspect of the development of Turkmenistan’s fish industry. Over the past years special attention has been paid to this industry. Today, Turkmenistan’s fish industry is rapidly developed, the period of technology modernization and renewal. On the initiative of the Turkmen leader the measures are consistently taken in the country to strengthen the material and technical and raw materials base. The modern industry infrastructure is established through reconstructing and constructing fish facilities. The programmes on development of the Caspian region are implemented under the patronage of the President. For example, the project on construction of the production complex specialized in artificial breeding and processing fish is implemented in the Balkan Velayat.

Intense development of the fish industry dictates the necessity to bring it up to a higher level. Establishing wide international co-operation with foreign partners is of particular importance in this process. The study of the best international practice and application of advanced technologies in industry contributes to the fulfillment of the main task to saturate the domestic market with high-quality fish products to ensure the plenty of food products in the country.

The Perspectives of Fish Industry of Turkmenistan and International Co-Operation Scientific Conference will be a splendid opportunity to get acquainted with the innovations and very promising projects, to share experiences and information in this field. The leading specialists from many countries worldwide will take part in the scientific forum. The topics under discussion include the environmental issues, in particular preservation of the largest population of sturgeons in the Caspian Sea.

The international exhibition brought together the guests from 16 countries including Great Britain, Russia, Turkey, the UAE, Germany, Italy, Japan, China. The participants think Turkmenistan will be interested in the proposals to co-operate in such fields as personnel training, preservation and efficient use of fish resources, pond fish farming, environmental conditions of fishing farms, water and fishing transport. The forum is expected to be of paramount practical significance for further development of the industry as well as intensification of effective international partnership meeting the goals and talks of Turkmenistan’s strategy of progressive reforms.
