OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2008. The key goal of the parties is to develop a single approach to safety culture and to work out mechanisms for attaining it.

The parties discussed a report on the results of self-assessment and a program of improvements. The foreign experts provided their Russian colleagues with valuable and useful information.

Expert Jan Tomlin (UK) held a safety culture seminar for the managers of Smolensk NPP. He explained that the managers participating in the project had to know that safety culture was a continuous process and had to have a general vision of their plant’s development prospects in this field.

The goal for the near future is to attain the second level of safety culture and further the third, highest, level (according to IAEA classification).
