OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2008. SibCOTES participated in Forum IV for chief power engineers from Kazakh enterprises held on August 27-29, 2008 in Almaty. The Forum looked at energy efficiency improvement in the XXI century and, in particular, the need to save energy in Kazakhstan.

Mr.Vladimir Rulkovsky, SibCOTES’ Chief Specialist from the Department for Commissioning, Start-up and Testing of Boiler Equipment, presented the paper on some new methods for solid fuel combustion improvement, namely, coal-water technology (conversion of solid fuel into liquid mixture state). The first application of the coal-water technology was at Novosibirsk CHP-5 plant in the 1980’s. By now, the process of synthetic coal-water fuel production has changed. First, disintegrator divides solid staff into ultimate particles. Then, cavitator mixes the particles with water, which results in the production of a new substance – coal-water fuel, which does not exfoliate or freeze. The fuel is explosion-proof and environmentally friendly. At present this advanced technology is under development. SibCOTES’ professionals together with NSTU and Novosibirskteploelektroproekt are working on this project. The audience took great interest in the presentation, especially in terms of the prospects for possible future cooperation.

Over 40 companies from all over the world attended the Forum including scientific, educational and design institutes, installation and commissioning companies, industrial enterprises and OEMs. The Forum was held for the forth time and was supported by the Committee of power engineers from the Republic of Kazakhstan.
