OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2008. The National Crisis Situation Management Centre will be a federal state institution under the authority of the Ministry for Civil Defence, Emergency Situations and Disaster Relief. It is being set up as part of efforts to develop a unified state system in this area.

The centre will function as a new-generation multilevel institution for managing and organising rapid reaction to crisis situations and also for crisis prevention and relief work.

The centre will use the latest technology in its crisis management work, enabling it to process all forms of information in real time, make use of the possibilities offered by global satellite navigation systems (GLONASS, GPS) and use global monitoring technology based on remote probing of the Earth from outer space.
