OREANDA-NEWS  On 27 October was announced, that Transaero Airlines became the winner of Corporate Donor of Russia All-Russia Contest in The Best Program Promoting Favorable Environment for Work and Life of Disabled Persons – Support to Disabled Persons to Improve Their Quality of Life nomination.

Transaero presented a unique partner program named Back to the Future implemented in cooperation with Children Autonomous Non-for-Profit Organization. The program was supported by the Federal Scientific and Clinical Center for Children Hematology, Oncology and Immunology. Back to the Future is a family type rehabilitation center for disabled children with cancer. The center is an entirely new concept for the Russian children oncology. It helps improve children’s quality of life, promotes their social adaptation and inclusion after a lengthy treatment. More than 200 children with cancer and hematological diseases have already attended the rehabilitation center. Back to the Future project was included in the Year of the Family All-Russia Federal Program in 2008.

The Corporate Donor of Russia contest was organized by Donors’ Forum Non-for-Profit Partnership, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Committee for Charity of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. Apart from that the contest was also sponsored by the Federal Agency for Youth and the UN Representative Office in Russia. The key objectives of the contest which has been held since 2006 are the following: to draw attention of the public, government authorities and mass media to charitable activities of companies; to conduct analysis and expert appraisal of corporate investments in social projects; to identify the best practices and new trends and models in the field of corporate charitable activities.

One of the key objectives of Transaero as a good corporate citizen is to improve the quality of life of disabled persons through implementation of social programs and to ensure availability of air transportation services to such people.
