OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2008. The authorities of Egypt and Belarus have asked the Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Inspection of Russia (Rostekhnadzor) to teach their inspectors how to inspect nuclear facilities, reports the spokesman of Rostekhnadzor Yevgeny Anoshin.

“Rostekhnadzor has big traditions and our inspectors help many countries wishing to develop nuclear energy,” says Anoshin.

“It is early yet to say how this teaching will be carried out. We received these requests quite recently,” says Anoshin.

Rostekhnadzor takes an active part in the work of international organizations like the International Atomic Energy Agency and the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency. It has cooperation agreements and memorandums with nuclear and radiation control agencies of 26 countries. The agreement with Belarus was concluded in 1994.

Belarus and Egypt are planning to shortly start building own nuclear power plants.
