OREANDA-NEWS. November 1, 2008. Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko, who led the Russian delegation at the Days of Russia in Brazil, is sure that in the future Russian-Brazilian trade turnover will exceed USD 10bln and that nuclear energy cooperation will have a significant share in it. He expressed such an opinion during a briefing when asked about the preparations for the visit of President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev to Brazil.

“Our trade turnover is quickly growing. Our goal is to attain USD 10bln. When we were setting this goal we thought it was unreal but today Mr. Vice President said that USD 10bln is already a solvable problem,” Kiriyenko said.

“We must think broader and set much higher goals. Cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy can become an important component of our trade turnover,” Kiriyenko said.

“Our companies and governments are showing mutual interest as they are very much alike in terms of multi-nationality of their cultures and vastness of their territories.”

“But the most important thing today, when we all are facing the global financial crisis, is that our economies are not virtual economies but real economies. Of course, we cannot avoid the crisis but we can come out of it being much stronger,” Kiriyenko said.

He pointed out that they in Brazil were anticipating the visit of the President of Russia.
