OREANDA-NEWS. November 7, 2008. In January-October 2008, Vostochny Port OJSC handled 12.267 million tonnes of cargo (-13%, year-on-year), the company’s press center reports. In the reported period Universal Handling Terminal (PPK-1) handled 1.754.8 million tonnes of different cargo (+80%, year-on-year); Specialized Coal Complex (PPK-3) – 10.512.6 million tonnes of coal (-20%).

In October, the port’s throughput amounted to 950,000 (-34%, year-on-year). PPK-1 handled 220,400 tonnes of cargo (4.5-fold increase, year-on-year), Coal Complex729,600 tonnes (-48%).
“General crisis in the global market has had its impact on our company as well,” Director General of Vostochny Port OJSC Sergei Kushnarev says. Fluctuation of prices for thermal coal caused a considerable fall of PPK-3 throughput. Irregular supply of rolling stock for export coal influenced our work as well.”

Vostochny Port Joint Stock Company - is the largest stevedore company in the Far East of Russia. Its main specialization is coal handling using conveyer equipment.
Company consists of Specialized Coal Complex (PPK-3) and Universal Handling Terminal (PPK-1). It specializes in handling of general and such bulk cargoes as clinker, coal, coke, iron ore concentrate, timber and others. PPK-1 can work with metal, cellulose, argil and also with chemical, long-length and heavily-loaded cargoes.
