OREANDA-NEWS. November 14, 2008. In January-October, 2008, the port of Nakhodka handled 12.993.1 million tonnes of cargo (+20.2%, year-on-year).

In the reported period, the port handled 7.600.4 million tonnes of dry cargo (+28.2%, year-on-year) including 1.924.6 million tonnes of loose dry cargo (up 11.5 times, year-on-year). Transshipment of ore doubled to 295,000 tonnes, coal – up 70 times to 1.483.4 million tonnes.

In the 10-month period, the port handled 773,700 tonnes of timber (down 2.8 times) including 515,700 tonnes of round timber (down 3.4 times) and 258,000 tonnes of sawn timber (-30.9%).

In January-October, the port handled 4.714.7 million tonnes of general cargo (+36.7%) including 3.695.6 million tonnes of ferrous metal (+29.3%), 223,700 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (+63.9%), 138,200 tonnes of scrap metal (+4%). Transshipment of refrigerated cargo amounted to 35,800 tonnes (-38.4%), 384,400 tonnes of unitized goods (up 1.6 times).

The port’s container throughput increased by 62.2% to 42,187 TEU.

Transshipment of oil products totaled 5.392.7 million tonnes (+10.5%).
Nakhodka port is located on both coasts in the northern part of Nakhodka Bay. The port has year round navigation. It is linked with railway systems of Russia and Western Europe by Trans-Siberian Line.
