OREANDA-NEWS  On 21 November was announced, that JSC “Mashinostroitelny Zavod” (Electrostal, Moscow region) TVEL Corporation concluded a strategic contract with Slovenske Electrarne a.s. for complete supply of nuclear fuel for Mochovce NPP (Units 2 and 2) and Bogunice NPP (Units 3 and 4). The contract shall become effective as of October, 2010 ans shall remain in force until 2015.

Apart from the contract on November, 17 TVEL and Slovenske Electrarne a.s. have signed an agreement defining the principles of cooperation after 2015. In accordance with the agreement TVEL Corporation will have the opportunity to fabricate nuclear fuel for al operational NPPs and those that are planned to be put into operation in Slovakia. 

The documents have been signed by TVEL’s President Yuri Olenin (Russian Party) and Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Slovenske Electrarne a.s. Paolo Ruzzini (Slovak Party).

“Today we made a very serious and important step – signed an agreement on contract extension for 5 years. I am confident that this is a beginning of a new stage of cooperation, new bench mark in the development of long-term strategic partnership going beyond 2015” – stressed Yuri Olenin, the President of TVEL Corporation right after signing the contract.

“ I am fully convinced that we are working with really reliable partner that keeps up to date both highly qualified personnel and most sophisticated equipment. The enterprises of TVEL Corporation have wonderful future” – said Paolo Ruzzini during press-conference at Elemash.

In his turn the Vice-president of JSC ”TVEL” Vasily Konstantinov expressed confidence in the fact that “the agreement reached is of mutually beneficial nature”.

“For MSZ  this contract is very important: its not simply the next profitable contract, but a sign of trust in us. It is principally that the Italian company Enel, which several years ago purchased 66% of shares of Slovak electricity producer, did not change the supplier. This demonstrates the authority and spotless image of Elemash” – noted MSZ Director-General Oleg Kryukov at the meeting with Russian mass media.

Slovak Npps Bogunice and Mochovce were constructed according to Soviet design and were put into operation since 1978 and 1998 respectively. Fuel deliveries for 4 units with VVER-440 reactors of Bogunice NPP( currently 2 units are functioning) and Mochovce NPP (2 power units with VVER-440 reactors) from the moment of commissioning have been performed by the enterprise of TVEL Corporation – JSC “Mashinostroitelny Zavod”. The share of nuclear power in Slovakian Energy mix is 57,2%.
