OREANDA-NEWS. On November 19-20, 2008 in the framework of the TAIEX project (Technical Assistance Information Exchange Instrument) of the European Commission and in order to exchange experience in the field of financial markets control and regulation the workshop "Antimonopoly Regulation in Financial Markets" was held in the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The representatives of the European Union' national competition authorities, representatives of the Central and Regional Offices of the FAS Russia as well as representatives of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation participated in the workshop.

During this seminar the following issues were discussed:

- the EU Policy on financial markets regulation;

- the practice of the EU Financial Regulation Directive' implementation by the National Competition Commission in Spain;

- the practice of the implementation of the EU Directive on Regulation the Investment Services Providers (investment firms, credit institutions, management companies etc.);

- features of improvement of antimonopoly regulation over financial markets in Poland;

- implementation of consolidation and fragmentation as a competition process in Spain;

- particularities of payment system and implementation of payment cards in Lithuania.

Besides, the participants of the workshop discussed some competition issues in financial markets and exchanged the experience on consideration of cases on competition law infringement in the financial markets.

The FAS Russia underlines expediency and effectiveness for the FAS Russia Central and Regional Offices' employees of the workshop held and highly estimates the opportunity to get acquainted with the best world practices on the topical issues of antimonopoly regulation in financial markets.
