OREANDA-NEWS  On 26 November was announced, that the Nikopol ferroalloy plant (NFER) is considering the possibility of resuming production before December. Volodymyr Kazachenko, the head of the central committee of the Trade Union of Metallurgical and Mining Workers said.

Kazachenko said that employees of the Nikopol ferroalloy plant planned to hold a conference on November 21 to consider the issue of resumption of production.

According to Kazachenko, the leadership of the Nikopol ferroalloy plant is inclined toward adopting a decision on resumption of operation at the plant, possibly immediately after the conference.

All the ferroalloy plants (the Nikopol ferroalloy plant, the Stakhanov ferroalloy plant, and the Zaporizhia ferroalloy plant) and the ore mining and enrichment plants (the Marhanets and Ordzhonikidze ore mining and enrichment plants) in Ukraine suspended production in November because of lack of demand for their products.

The Nikopol ferroalloy plant reported a net profit of UAH 4.855 million for the year 2007, when its net revenues increased by UAH 1,923.894 million or 72.57% to UAH 4,575.078 million compared with 2006.

The Nikopol ferroalloy plant is the largest producer of ferroalloys in Ukraine.
