OREANDA-NEWS  On 03 December was announced, that DHL Express, Russia's leading express logistics company, invited journalists from priority Russian business, HR and logistics media to participate in the company's new corporate game "Welcome to the DHL Experience". The event took place on November 25 and was supported by the game's creators "Business Training Russia".

The journalists were invited to work as a "virtual DHL employee" for a day, which offered them a unique opportunity to take a look at the logistics business from within.

In the simulation, each individual team has to undertake one of five key functions which, when combined successfully, allow a company to produce great service. The functions reflect key stages in the delivery process: customer service (booking and taking orders, dealing with customer inquiries), courier duties (picking up and delivering shipments, filling out air waybills), shipment processing (ensuring that customers' shipments are correctly sorted and routed), billing and accounting (ensuring that customers are billed on time and outstanding payments are recovered), and sales (winning new customers and guaranteeing the loyalty of existing customers). The game gives participants a feel for the flow of shipments, information, finances and documentation in the express delivery industry, and helps to understand the value of each individual process to the overall business.

During the game, the press representatives had the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the main structure and specifics of DHL's business, as well as the company's core activities. They were also able to personally assess the effectiveness of DHL's new tool in HR development, which is expected to contribute further to the company's efforts to strengthen its cohesive, winning team.

After the game, journalists spoke with Elena Petrova, Head of Human Resources Russia DHL Express, Dan McGrath, Communications Manager Russia DHL Express, and Stanislav Nikitin, Development Director of Business Training Russia.

The unique business simulation was created in 2008 as part of DHL's introductory course for new employees. Employees of all levels and departments within the business take part in the game and is an integral part of the company's "Welcome to DHL" induction program.

"Over the course of just one day, our new colleagues are given an immediate overview of how our business works. They see which functions are central to DHL's core operations and how they are interrelated. Most importantly, they begin to feel and to recognize that they an important member of DHL's large team." - said Elena Petrova, the company's Head of HR.

"Welcome to the DHL Experience" is an example of the company's carefully planned approach to teamwork. It is an important corporate tool aimed at helping new members of the team to understand the underlying basics of DHL's business, and which underscores the fact that each individual's contribution has a direct effect on the company's overall success. Only through teamwork and well-coordinated activities is it possible to achieve high quality service, a principle on which DHL's success is built.
