OREANDA-NEWS. December 4, 2008. A delegation from Stroytransgaz, with Chairman of the Management Board Vyacheslav Makhonin at its head, has completed a visit to Saudi Arabia. As part of that trip, the delegation met with senior management of state-owned oil and gas company Saudi Aramco, customer for the Sheiba-Abqaiq oil pipeline, which Stroytransgaz is now building. Saudi Aramco managers commended the Russian company for the high quality of its work on the pipeline.

Saudi Aramco expressed interest in continuing to collaborate with Stroytransgaz in new large oil and gas projects in Saudi Arabia. Vyacheslav Makhonin confirmed the company’s plans to expand work in the Saudi Arabian market with pipeline, pretrochemical, and energy projects. The Russian delegation examined Saudi Aramco facilities in the Persian Gulf area and visited the Sheiba-Abqaiq oil pipeline construction site.

During its visit to Saudi Arabia, the delegation held discussions with the president and CEO of the Saudi Electric Company, Ali Saleh al-Barrak. Mr. Barrack informed the group of a large-scale program (around USD 50 billion) to construct new electric power facilities in Saudi Arabia and invited Stroytransgaz to take part in the tenders for those projects.

After visiting Saudi Arabia, the delegation flew to the United Arab Emirates where Stroytransgaz is realizing another large project, construction of the 240-kilometer Taweelah-Fujairah gas pipeline.
